Prescott School was invited to participate in the Waitsburg Celebration Days Parade. Ms. Ty's high school Family & Consumer Sciences class designed and built the float with the help of Mr. Kieffer and his shop tools and equipment. The theme of the parade was "Keeping Traditions Alive" as well as also celebrating Armed Forces Day. Using this information, students compiled a list of all the traditions embraced by our community. Our unique blend included Mexican Culture, American Military tradition, Tiger Pride, local agriculture, and even some Scandinavian traditional wear. They designed the float to honor all these traditions and asked those riding on the float to dress in one of the categories. We had students in authentic military uniforms passed down from relatives, traditional Mexican regalia, orchard working attire, and of course Tiger gear! The class students are: Ana Campos, Kevin Cruz, Carlos Cruz, Juridia Flores, David Garcia, Valeria Iglesias, Kyle Lindsey, Ariana Quiroz, Jackie Sanchez, & Irma Serratos. Jahir Escalante and Theo Hunziker helped paint Tiger paws on the tank. The students, staff, and family members who participated in the parade were Mr. Bradford, Ms. Ty, Irma Luna-Salazar, Luis Diaz, Karol Cruz, Valeria Martinez, Justin Diaz, Logan LeRoue, Chayse Weaver, Ailen Diaz, David Garcia, Carlos Cruz, Kyle Lindsey, and Ana Campos. The class wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Bradford for stepping out of his comfort zone to drive the truck and trailer, Mr. Kieffer for his expertise and use of tools, and the family and community members who took time Saturday to show up and support them.
